In a revelation, global sensation BTS is forging an even deeper connection with their fans through the release of their new book, "Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS." 

Published on July 9th, on the group's momentous 10-year anniversary, this remarkable literary work is divided into seven chapters, offering a profound insight into the challenges the members encountered on their extraordinary journey to stardom.

Among the compelling narratives featured in the book, band member Jimin bravely shares his personal battle with mental health during the band's meteoric rise to fame. In this candid memoir, the singer-songwriter recounts his struggles with depression, revealing how he found himself grappling with inexplicable emotions and gradually withdrawing from his bandmates.

Jimin opens up about the perplexity surrounding his emotional state, stating, "I don't know why I was being like that, but it was a period where I just suddenly became depressed." The weight of international scrutiny further exacerbated his mental health struggles, painting a poignant picture of the toll fame can take on one's well-being.

What Actually Is Depression 

Depression is not a sign of weakness, but a medical condition that affects the mind, body, and spirit. It manifests differently in each person, encompassing feelings of deep sadness, loss of interest in once-enjoyed activities, changes in appetite and sleep patterns, fatigue, and a loss of concentration. It is crucial to recognise depression as an illness, destigmatising the perception that individuals can simply "snap out of it."

“Depression lasts practically every day for at least two weeks and causes symptoms other than sadness. It could not have been caused solely by a distinct or evident cause. Clinical depression, also known as major depressive illness, is commonly referred to as "depression" by the majority of people,” said Chetna Luthra, Clinical Psychologist at Lissun.

Depths Of Depression

Therapy, such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), can equip individuals with coping mechanisms, helping them reframe negative thoughts and regain control over their lives.

In some cases, medication may be prescribed to rebalance the chemicals in the brain and alleviate the symptoms of depression. However, it is important to note that medication is not a one-size-fits-all solution and should always be accompanied by therapy and professional guidance.
